Summary:
We are seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to serve as Referee/Score Timers for various sports leagues at Beale Air Force Base.
The Referee/Score Timer will be responsible for officiating games and ensuring fair play while also keeping accurate records of scores and game time.
This position requires a strong understanding of the rules and regulations of the respective sports and the ability to enforce them in a professional and impartial manner.
Key
Responsibilities:
Officiate Games:
Act as the official referee for flag football, soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball matches, ensuring that all players adhere to the rules and regulations of the respective sport's governing bodies.
Enforce Safety Protocols:
Ensure all players follow established safety procedures and utilize required safety equipment, such as mouth guards and helmets, to promote a safe playing environment.
Scorekeeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date scorebooks/score sheets for each contest, including essential information such as time, date, teams playing, officials, and scorekeepers' names.
Review Scorebooks/Sheets:
The head official shall review scorebooks/score sheets at the end of each contest to verify the accuracy of the recorded information.
The scorebook/sheet must be approved and signed by all officials and scorekeepers.
Acquire Team Rosters:
Obtain team rosters from both participating teams before the start of each game.
Notification and Reporting:
Notify the Fitness Center in case of contested games, player ejections, or injuries.
Report any unsportsmanlike conduct or inappropriate behavior, as well as injuries, to the Fitness Center Staff.
Provide detailed descriptions of incidents, including names, ranks, units, and the nature of the situation.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Air Force safety requirements when officiating on Beale AFB.
Adjudicate on any points or situations not explicitly covered within the by-laws and National Association Rules.
By-Law Enforcement:
Enforce local sports by-laws and support and enforce the official rulebooks of the respective sport's governing bodies (National Federation of High Schools for basketball, American Football Association for flag football, United Softball Association/Amateur Softball Association for softball, United States of America Volleyball Association for volleyball, and United States Soccer Federation for soccer).
Time Management:
Oversee game/match timekeeping, ensuring proper timing and adherence to established game durations.
Availability:
Be available for the entire duration of the game/match, including overtime or extra innings if applicable.
Weekend Availability:
Be prepared to work on weekends as scheduled in advance or due to make-up contests.
Cancelled or postponed contests may also be added to the end of the schedule, extending the schedule.
No contests will be scheduled on Federal Holidays.
Qualifications:
All officials must be members of the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) or of a state registered sports officials association for the sport being officiated.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the rules and regulations of flag football, soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball.
Previous experience as a referee or score timer for the mentioned sports is preferred.
Ability to make fair and unbiased decisions under pressure.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well within a team of officials and collaborate effectively.
Familiarity with Air Force safety requirements is a plus.
Availability to work on weekends and flexibility with scheduling.
Note:
By-laws and safety requirements specific to each sport will be provided during the sport clinic for each respective sport, one week prior to the start of the season.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
